Biographie

According to the title of the edition of his Requiem Mass published in 1556, Bonefont was then a canon and master of the choirboys at the Cathedral of Clermont-Ferrand: Missa pro mortuis, cum quinque vocibus , nunc primùm in lucem edita. Autore D. Simone de Bonefont, Ecclesiae Claromentensis apus Alvernos canonico et pueris symphoniacis praefecto. One motet ascribed to him was printed in Geneva in 1554, and two chansons by Du Chemin in Paris in 1551 and 1557 (Un gros meusnier son asne conduisant ascribed to "Bonnefont" in the Second livre de chansons nouvellement mises en musique, Du Chemin, 1557, of which only the Bassus partbook survives: https://rism.online/sources/993120179).
