Commentaires : Choirboy before 1491 so 16 years old at this date is an average estimate. His birthplace in Kortrijk is surmised from the fact that he took his retirement in this city.

Mécène : Charles V of Habsburg
Institution : Chapelle ducale de Bourgogne, Burgundy (France)
Commentaires : Ferer 2012 (esp. p. 58) fails to realize that Philippot de Bruges and Philippe Paillette are one and a same person, serving the Burgundian-Habsburg chapel from 1501 to 1521. Van Doorslaer also misunderstood the continuity of Paillette's service during all the court's travels to Spain, writing erronously: "Il n'accompagne pas Ie souverain en Espagne, ni en 1 501 , ni en 1506, et ce n'est qu'en 1510 (27 décembre) qu'on Ie retrouve dans la chapelle de Charles V, chantre aux gages de 9 sols" (Van Dooslaer 1934, p. 153).
