Biography

Son of Louis I of Savoy and Anne de Lusignan, born 1438, married to Margaret of Bourbon and Claude de Brosse. As a cadet member of the family, he owned as an apanage the county of Bresse. He was shortly duke of Savoy in 1496-1497. His daughter was Louise de Savoie, mother of king Francis I.

Comments: Ryan O'Sullivan a identifié le blason sur le verso de la page de garde du chansonnier comme celle de Philippe II Savoie. En démontrant que ce chansonnier présente une transmission éloignée de celle transmise par des sources de Savoie (principalement que le Chansonnier de Jean de Montchenu), il propose l'hypothèse que ce chansonnier aurait été produit lors du séjour de Philippe de Savoie à la cour de Jean de Bourbon dans la première moitié des années 1470.
