Louise de Savoie

Biography

Born at Point-d'Ain 11.9.1476, she died of the plague on 22.9.1531 in Grez-sur-Loing. Daughter of Philip II of Savoy and Margaret of Bourbon, she was brought up at the court of France by Anne de Beaujeu, regent of France for her brother Charles VIII. She was married to Charles of Orléans, Count of Angoulême, on 16.2.1488 in Paris. Her son Francis I beacame king of France in 1515. She was regent of France in 1515 and in 1525-1526.
