Une annotation d'un manuscrit de la Bibliothèque municipale de Chartres détruit en 1944 (F-CHR, ms. 130, f. 50v) indique, au-dessus d'une pièce musicale ajoutée : "C'est une chace qui se chante a. ii. Et le fit Frere Jehan Lebuef d'Abbeville en Pontieu l'an 1362". Aucune autre trace de ce moine d'un ordre inconnu, nommé Jean Lebeuf ou Lebuef et né (ou actif) à Abbeville, n'a pu être localisée à ce jour.
