This project, supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada from 2008 to 2011, is the initiative of the early music team at the Université de Montréal, which set itself the ambitious goal of studying vocal and instrumental music, both secular and sacred, composed between 1400 and 1800. The specific project of studying French song during the Renaissance is one of the areas defined by the research group.
Initially hosted by the University of Montreal, it joined the ‘RicercarDataLab’ database following the premature departure of its main facilitator, the indefatigable researcher, teacher, friend and collaborator in the Ricercar programme for many years, Professor Frank Dobbins (1943-2012).
